About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Agent with a strong background in structural works to join our delivery team on the HS2 project near Buckingham. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and coordinating the construction of complex structural elements, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, contributing to the successful delivery of bridges, viaducts, retaining walls, and other major civil structures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day site activities for the structures package, ensuring compliance with project requirements and HS2 standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with the Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems.
  • Review and interpret design drawings, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor progress against the programme and report on productivity, quality, and commercial performance.
  • Liaise with designers, client representatives, and stakeholders to resolve technical and delivery issues.
  • Manage site documentation including ITPs, permits, and daily records.
  • Support the development of junior engineers and site staff through mentoring and coaching.
  • Drive a positive safety culture and promote continuous improvement across the site team.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent or Sub Agent on large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical background in structures – bridges, viaducts, retaining walls, or reinforced concrete works.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations and temporary works procedures.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid (at work) certification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on HS2 or other major rail or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC contract administration.
  • Experience with digital site management tools (FieldView, BIM 360, etc.).
