An exciting opportunity has come up for an Assistant Commerical Manager to work for a main joint venture on HS2. This is a freelance role and is based out of Birmingham.
Description of Activities to be undertaken
- Assist in the management of all aspects of the commercial and cost management of work package or group of work packages as designated by the Commercial Manager
- Manage and assure Subcontracts are properly managed to reflect agreed scope including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, compensation events, programme submissions etc., that all contract files are maintained and kept up to date.
- Assist in the preparation of the subcontract AFP to client agreeing values etc.
- Reporting on S/C actual costs v budget and identifying underlying reasons for any variance and resolutions, in particular highlighting any change to original budget. ( CVR)
- Ensure all site staff understand contractual arrangements between Fusion and Subcontractors and all obligations under the subcontract
- Work with site team to ensure project and programme risk mitigation plans are considered, put in place & administered.
- Manage the subcontract change control requirements from S/C to Package.
- Ensure accurate financial records are maintained for subcontract audits and cost assurance.
- Accurate S/C Final Accounts are prepared in a timely manner and agreed

Minimum Qualifications Needed for Role
- Experience within a Construction/Engineering environment preferred
- Civil or Mechanical Engineering background preferred
- Knowledge of NEC3 form of contract
- Strong Commercial background
- Ability to solicit views across multiple parties, lead discussions and manage interdependencies
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with colleagues and part of a team.
