Assistant Project Manager - HS2 - Birmingham

An exciting opportunity has come up for an Assistant Project Manager based in Birmingham to work for a main Joint Venture on HS2. This is a freelance position for at least 10 months.

This position will require regular travel to sites in Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire.

Description of Activities to be undertaken

  • Co-ordination of staff within the package delivery teams
  • Responsibility for combining reporting for the whole package
  • Ensure 4 weekly look ahead programme is produced and asbuilt recorded
  • Ensure timely delivery and sign off for CDM Control Points in advance of works
  • Promote Safe Systems of Work with the Supply chain
  • Forward planning to ensure all consents and permits are in place to deliver works
  • Manage construction activities
  • Support Senior Project Engineers with subcontractor management - all aspects
  • Weekly meetings, reporting and assist project controls function
  • Capture change and ensure records are kept for recovery of costs
  • Liaise with client and maintain good working relationships

Desirable experience/skills/qualities

  • Experience in using/interpreting specifications and works information
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience writing and reviewing SSOW/RAMS
  • Experience in use of ITPs
  • Experience writing and reviewing NCRs and TQs
  • Experience in programming works and/or managing Subcontractor programme submissions
  • Previous personal responsibility for directing and managing Subcontractors
  • Experience in chairing Subcontractor and Client meetings
