Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Survey Manager to join a major long-term redevelopment project at Devonport Docks in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-profile infrastructure programme in a technically demanding and highly regulated environment.

This role will support the Survey Manager in leading site surveying operations, maintaining high-quality data standards, and ensuring compliance with stringent QA/QC and QC1 procedures. You will play a key role in coordinating survey activities across multiple construction areas while helping to manage and develop a growing team of surveyors and technicians.

Please note: Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks. Applicants must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

  • Ensuring all survey data is collected, recorded, and stored in line with project QA/QC standards

  • Assisting in the production and checking of survey reports, drawings, and data outputs

  • Overseeing the management, calibration, and maintenance of survey equipment

  • Coordinating with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align survey operations with construction activities

  • Supporting implementation of QC1-compliant quality control procedures with full traceability and reporting

  • Managing and archiving survey documentation within the project document management system

  • Attending daily briefings and reporting on progress, risks, and constraints

  • Ensuring all survey works comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements
