Carmichel are seeking an experienced Construction Auditor/ Quality Assurance Manager to join the team on a freelance basis for a major infrastructure project based in Birmingham.


  • Manage, develop, and maintain the Integrated Management System
  • Engage with process owners and end users to ensure the Integrated Management System (IMS) is implemented and continually developed.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to all new processes and procedures.
  • Provide guidance on writing and developing well-structured documentation.
  • Complete process mapping and add all new documents.
  • Provide linkage to power BI and other tools to demonstrate compliance / assurance.
  • Manage feedback and notifications from system.
  • Maintain core information such as IMS manual, governance procedure.
  • Ensure all amendments to IMS are completed within governance procedure.
  • Ensure IMS remains compliant with applicable standards e.g.ISO 9001.
  • Promote best practice and provide guidance to discipline owners.
  • Provide training to all end users and process owners.
  • Assist in identification and use of technology to support processes for example Visio, Autodesk 360, SharePoint
  • Understand what BIM is, the contextual requirement for BIM Level 2 and its connection to the Government Construction Strategy and Industrial Strategy 2025.

  • Experience
  • Previous Construction experience - ideally for a delivery contractor
  • Experience of working in a mid to senior level leadership position within a large organisation or on major projects or framework.
  • Experience of auditing management systems within highly regulated environments.
  • Full working knowledge of management system standards.
  • Trained ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 14001:2015 or ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor and preferably IRQA registered.
