CAD Manager – HS2

Carmichael UK is recruiting an experienced CAD Manager to join the delivery team on the prestigious HS2 Main Works project. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the largest infrastructure programmes in Europe, supporting a joint venture delivering world-class engineering.
 

Role Overview

As a CAD Manager, you will play a key role in the production, management, and coordination of CAD information through Bentley ProjectWise, ensuring alignment with HS2 and project-specific requirements. You will oversee CAD assurance, enforce standards, and support high-quality digital deliverables.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, assure, and implement CAD standards in line with HS2 CAD Specifications and the BIM Execution Plan.

  • Oversee CAD quality and engage with subcontractors regarding quality issues.

  • Manage CAD information in accordance with the HS2 Works Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Asset Breakdown Structure (ABS).

  • Support ongoing development and maintenance of project CAD standards and QA rules.

  • Apply strong knowledge of IFC standards, managing conversion, validation, and verification of IFC4 and other exchange formats (e.g., iDGN).

  • Configure and manage OpenBuildings Designer data groups, project libraries, and schedules.

  • Produce 3D models and drawings using Bentley OpenBuildings Designer, Autodesk Revit, and Civil 3D within a ProjectWise environment.

  • Support the creation of construction and as-built BIM models aligned with asset owner requirements

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficient in Bentley OpenBuildings Designer, ProjectWise, and Autodesk Revit.

  • Certified Bentley software professional.

  • Strong knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise administration.

  • Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.

  • Proven experience in 3D CAD production on civil engineering projects.

  • Good understanding of BIM principles, including PAS 1192 and ISO 19650.

  • HNC or higher in a relevant discipline.

  • Experience working on large, complex infrastructure projects.
