Job Description: Commercial Manager 

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Manager to join our tier 1 engineering company. As the Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of the organization by overseeing all aspects of commercial operations, including contract management, pricing strategies, client relationships, and business development. Your expertise will be instrumental in maximizing revenue, profitability, and sustainable growth for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Management:

    • Lead the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts with clients, suppliers, and partners.
    • Ensure contracts are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements while mitigating potential risks.
  2. Pricing Strategies:

    • Develop and implement effective pricing strategies for the company's products and services.
    • Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and cost structures to optimize pricing decisions.
  3. Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with the sales and technical teams to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  4. Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and markets to expand the company's client base.
    • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to create strategies for lead generation and market penetration.
  5. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

    • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
    • Prepare regular reports on key financial metrics, revenue projections, and profit margins.
  6. Risk Management:

    • Identify and assess potential commercial and financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate them.
    • Implement risk management protocols to safeguard the company's interests.
  7. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor the commercial team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
  8. Negotiations:

    • Represent the company in negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners to secure favorable terms and agreements.
  9. Legal Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in all commercial activities.
  10. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Contribute to the annual budgeting process by providing insights and forecasts related to commercial activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or in a similar role within the engineering field
  • Must belong to either CICES or RICS
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of financial principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Proficiency in contract management, pricing strategies, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering industry trends, market dynamics, and client expectations.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance related to commercial activities.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
