Job Summary:

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for driving the commercial strategy and ensuring the commercial success of this construction project in Scotland. This role involves overseeing the commercial operations of this project. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the construction  market, and the ability to drive growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning and Execution:

    • Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
    • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development, etc.).
  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders.
    • Negotiate and manage client contracts ensuring compliance and profitability.
    • Address customer needs and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  3. Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the market.
    • Lead the business development initiatives and oversee the development of proposals, presentations, and pitches.
    • Monitor and report on sales performance metrics.
  4. Financial Management:

    • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
    • Conduct risk management and oversee financial performance to ensure targets are met.
    • Optimize the financial performance of the business unit.
  5. Team Leadership:

    • Lead, manage, and develop the commercial team.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship to staff.
  6. Operational Oversight:

    • Oversee daily commercial operations ensuring they align with the strategic goals.
    • Implement best practices and ensure operational efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in the construction / engineering industry
    • Extensive experience in sales, marketing, and business development.
    • Experience in the Scottish market is highly desirable.
