Carmichael are seeking a Construction Manager with strong highways experience.

The project is at pre construction phase and the office work will be based in Bedfordshire until the site opens in Norwich.

There is the option for some hybrid working.

Responsibilities will include:

 

    • Contribute to construction feasibility reviews of the proposed detailed design, review and commenting on Issued For Assurance construction packs prior to receiving IFC information
    • Coordinate supply chain partners to contribute to design solutions at the appropriate time to deliver a right first time design solution that can be constructed with “no in-flight change”
    • Ensure the delivery team is working to the latest design, and it is fully understood.
    • Ensure construction issues are raised promptly through the delivery team, with an appropriate level of escalation to determine a suitable resolution
    • Contribute to Cl32 programme updates with reviewing construction update information, and support any programme mitigation discussions with sound and robust programme mitigation proposal
    • Communicate the delivery requirements for the upcoming 3-6 months to your Agents/Sub Agents to allow them to begin detailed planning of the works
    • Ensure your delivery team understand the contract programme requirements, at the appropriate level of detail, and are actively working to deliver to this programme
    • Challenge to delivery team to develop and deliver a robust short term plan which aligns to the contract programme
    • Create a culture within the delivery team where quality is promoted, understood and delivere
    • Develop a detailed plan for handover of your works based on the overall project strategy, and communicate the requirements to your tea
    • Ensure accurate quality records are delivered in a progressive manner as construction works are completed

Skill Required

  • Be in possession of a current Managers CSCS card and other relevant qualifications including SMSTS
  • Suitable experience as a Construction Manager on similar size and type of build projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences.
  • Have significant site based managerial experience and ideally management of people
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and common construction methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of temporary works processes, design and management. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts (through experience and formal training). Ideally ECC NEC4.
  • IT skills - Digital competence (MS Office 365, document control systems, site digital tools).
  • Strong leadership and communication skill
