Carmichael are looking for a Contracts Engineer to join a fast growing earthworks company based in the Midlands on a permanent basis.

 

The Contracts Engineer will:

 

  • Support the Site teams to allow them to deliver a successful project
  • Oversee all engineering issues on site, from tender handover to final project close out
  • Assist the commercial team in pricing variations
  • Client Liaison from tender stage, obtaining construction status information.
  • Maintain personal training and development as example to others

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • To represent the company in all aspects of operational delivery of projects. Management of the design function post tender to constructions status as design co-ordinator liaising with the estimating teams from the client side and GFC. Obtain all construction information from the client team and produce construction issue information such as the earthworks model, Inspection and test plan, Risk assessments and method statements. Support the Site Managers in project delivery.
  • Tender  - be able to interpret tendered quanities in LSS to understand the criteria set at tender stage. Provide support to tenders as requested
  • Contruction 
    • Develop and build the construction model in LSS
    • Obtain site control from clients to ensure that the engineering function can set up the site control in the form of a GPS Base Station
    • Obtain 3D information from the clients to be able to produce earthworks models
    • Prepare the Inspection and Test Plan, testing grids and surveying grids
  • Build and maintain a good relation with the client and all external parties 
  • Monitor progress with up to date programmes so that timely clear direction can be given to the team on critical construction/financial targets.
  • Manage and control changes to scope, requirements, personnel etc
  • Monitor progress against cost plans, programmes and quality/environmental plans
  • Manage stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and protect our subcontractor relationships
  • Manage the design

 

Requirements 

 

  • Technical and management abilities
  • Organisational and management skills
  • Knowledge of the requirements of CDM regulations
  • Ability to produce Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans
  • Knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues
  • Minimum of 5 years Experience in construction.

 

  • Essential criteria for the role is proficient in the use of LSS, specifically for;
  • Inputting data from various file types (mostly CSVs and AutoCAD DXFs)
  • Use of the functions under the ‘Feature’ and ‘Edit’ headers to process and amend surveys/models
  • Use of the functions under the ‘CAD-Pro’, ‘Transform’, and ‘Output’ headers to alter, amend and create new data for surveys/models
  • Use of the functions under the ‘Output’, ‘Report’, and ‘Plot’ headers to produce relevant information (mostly quantities, testing/surveying grids, and level difference surveys/isopachytes) from surveys/models
  • Export to file types such as CSVs, AutoCAD DXFs, and Trimble GCS900 and Earthworks Machine Control

 

As Contract Engineer you MUST be a people person and be able to travel between head office and sites on a regular basis. There is also working from home opportunity too. 

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000  + Package (including car allowance and fuel card, as well as hybrid working offered)
