Carmichaels are seeking a Design Manager to work on a major Tier 1 highways project in Norfolk.

You will be responsible for the development of scheme solutions throughout their life cycle e.g. pre-contract, pre-construction, delivery, and handover. 

The Design Manager will support the following Technical Integration Management functions.

  • Technical Integration Hub - Facilitate and support scheme team integration, coordination, and communication, including external stakeholders and supply partners with regards to design and engineering.
  • Technical Management Systems and Processes – Support setting up of Technical management processes for the Project.
  • Management of designs in EnableMyTeam EMT as Review Coordinator.
  • Support set-up of Project Technical Integration dashboards and work with the design supply chain and Skanska Project Controls team to establish Project specific dashboards.
  • Implement and manage Project Utilities process for efficient delivery of Utilities diversions 
  • Management of design process- Management of the design process according to company procedures and Project Design Management Plan to ensure that the design of the permanent works is managed and completed to the requisite quality and in accordance with the contract programme and budget
  • Management of specialist design subcontractors.
  • Auditing compliance with CDM regulations. Support CDM Hazard reviews
  • Support lead design manager. Attend and chair meetings on behalf of the lead design manager as and when required.
  • Design control- Implement project change management process.
  • Technical Excellence - Ensure efficiency of processes, design and health and safety
  • Technical Quality Assurance - Manage and facilitate internal and client quality assurance and control requirements.
  • Technical Scheme Delivery Hub - Centralised Design services, including pre-contract and mobilisation phase support.
  • Technical Stream Performance Management and Analytics - Managing, monitoring and reporting team performance and project controls.
  • Technical Stream Commercial Management - Ensure technical and commercial compliance, including change control.
  • Support Function Integration – manage and interface with other DIP functions such as sustainability, quality, health and safety, planning, Performance Optimisation Centre, Package Management Office.
  • Initiate and facilitate the DIP continuous improvement programme.
