I’m currently looking for a Design Manager to work for a main joint venture on HS2 based in Birmingham. This is a freelance position and a great opportunity to work on one of the biggest projects in Europe.
Overall technical accountability to the Engineering Manager for the technical delivery of the design and build;
Day to day management and coordination of the design elements of the Works Package, including completion of verification (checking), technical review, and interdisciplinary checking and review
Verification that design staff are suitably qualified and experienced to carry out the roles assigned, including technical review and verification
Report progress to the Engineering Manager and the Assurance Manager
Ensures coordination of all design and assurance deliverables with interfacing organizations for the Works Package
Accepts individual technical and assurance deliverables on a Works Package level prior to acceptance by the Engineering Manager and Assurance Manager
Maintain close liaison and collaboration with HS2 technical team as required.
Confirming the satisfaction of HS2 Requirements including the P1PRS (Phase 1 Project Requirements Specification), the Contractors Requirements Technical (CRT) and the HS2 Phase One Standards Baseline instructed.
Integrating technical registers such as assumptions and departures, at a Works Package level.- Reviewing and monitoring the maintenance of the technical elements of the Works Package MIDP.
Establishing a regular meeting and reporting cycles for managing,
Coordinating and assuring the design for a Works Package.
Minimum Qualifications Needed for Role
Civil Engineering degree
10+ years of related work experience in road design. Knowledge of the regulations/standards of the Highway England
Experience leading transportation projects, which require multiple-agency interaction.
