Earthworks Surveyor – HS2 (Permanent Role)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Earthworks Surveyor to join our team delivering works across the HS2 project in the Aylesbury area, Buckinghamshire. This is a fully site-based position, providing an excellent opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying, 3D modelling, and volumetric analysis to support ongoing earthworks operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out topographical and as-built surveys for earthworks activities across multiple Aylesbury sites.

  • Develop and maintain 3D earthworks models using Trimble Business Centre and LSS.

  • Produce and update cut/fill models, design surfaces, and terrain models for construction planning and verification.

  • Perform volumetric calculations and provide material tracking reports to support production and commercial teams.

  • Collaborate closely with site engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure survey data and models align with design intent.

  • Ensure all survey control, QA documentation, and data management comply with HS2 and company standards.

  • Support continuous improvement of digital workflows and survey methods on site.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in earthworks surveying on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.

  • Proficient in Trimble Business Center (TBC) and LSS for 3D modelling and analysis.

  • Strong understanding of earthworks processes, material balance, and volumetric reporting.

  • Experience working with GNSS, total stations, and associated survey instruments.

  • Ability to interpret and produce detailed technical drawings and digital terrain models.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
