Electrical Package Manager

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: Full-time on site - 10 hour days

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Electrical Package Manager to join a major redevelopment project at Devonport Docks in Plymouth. This is a key leadership role within a complex, highly regulated environment, working inside a live MOD facility where safety, compliance, and quality are critical.

You will take ownership of electrical works within your designated project area, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, and aligned with programme, quality, and commercial targets.

Security Requirements:
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. This process can take up to 8 weeks.
Applicants must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all electrical works are procured, planned, and delivered safely in accordance with project requirements and UK legislation

  • Review and challenge designs alongside design teams and the client to ensure solutions are safe, buildable, efficient, and fully compliant with contractual and statutory standards

  • Manage change control processes, identifying and managing risk and opportunity within your package

  • Provide accurate and timely updates to the project management team on progress, performance, and financial status

  • Take full responsibility for successful delivery of your area of works in line with agreed quality, programme, and commercial objectives

  • Ensure all electrical installations meet internal standards, client specifications, and statutory requirements as a minimum

  • Lead and support project team members within your area, setting clear expectations and providing guidance and performance feedback

  • Contribute to project-wide risk and opportunity management, taking ownership of mitigation or enhancement measures within your scope

  • Understand package budgets and commercial drivers, making informed decisions aligned with project priorities

  • Maintain clear and accurate project records and documentation

  • Ensure all required electrical appointments are made by the Authorising Engineer for the works under your control


About You

  • HNC, HND, BSc, BEng, MSc or MEng in a Civil or Electrical Engineering–related discipline

  • SMSTS qualification

  • CSCS White (PQP/AQP) card

  • Proven experience in a similar Package Manager or senior electrical delivery role

  • Experience in highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence, or major infrastructure is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work within live or high-risk environments

  • Commercially aware with the ability to manage budgets, programme constraints, and reporting requirements

  • Confident leader with the ability to drive performance and coordinate multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
