About the Opportunity

Carmichael UK is seeking a skilled Section Electrical & Control Engineer to join a major infrastructure project based in the Heathrow area. Role Overview

You will supervise and coordinate the electrical and control engineering function within your section of the project. This includes leading design delivery, liaising with multidisciplinary teams, managing technical documentation, overseeing subcontractors, and ensuring systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to the highest standards.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring electrical and control engineering works are safe, compliant, and delivered in line with programme, budget, and quality expectations.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering Delivery & Design Management

  • Manage the production, review, and approval of electrical and control design documents.

  • Ensure drawings and specifications are complete, accurate, and workable for construction teams.

  • Raise and resolve technical queries, design changes, and constructability issues.

  • Support setting-out and installation requirements for electrical/control systems.

Team & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Lead and support engineering staff within your discipline.

  • Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.

  • Liaise with clients, designers, and subcontractors to ensure aligned technical delivery.

  • Oversee vendor engagement, technical datasheets, and material approvals.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

  • Monitor quality standards and address non-conformances.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and statutory regulations.

  • Support commissioning activities and review testing documentation.

Programme & Reporting

  • Track progress of electrical and control elements against the construction programme.

  • Provide detailed reporting on design status, risks, and engineering performance.

  • Manage engineering documentation, as-built records, and technical submissions.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Experience delivering electrical/control systems on major infrastructure or industrial projects.

  • Strong understanding of design processes, electrical specifications, and engineering workflows.

  • Ability to lead engineering tasks, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and manage technical issues.

  • Familiarity with reviewing and approving datasheets, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience producing or managing ITPs and QA documentation.


Desirable

  • Experience within regulated sectors (water, aviation, utilities, energy, etc.).

  • Background working with Tier 1 contractors.

  • Knowledge of commissioning processes for electrical/control systems.

  • Working toward professional registration (IET, ICE, or similar).
