CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Engineering and Third Parties Manager on behalf of a Tier 1 client. 

 

The Role 

Reporting to the Project Manager the role is required to manage the third parties’ technical interface and deliver appropriate engineering solutions, providing guidance and support to the project to ensure third party approval for tunnelling beneath assets is obtained prior to commencement of tunnelling.  A rail background and having previously held a CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) position is preferable. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

  • Relevant engineering degree
  • 5+ years experience in project management of a major engineering project or equivalent design management 
  • Technical knowledge appropriate to the nature of works: tunnel design and construction, geotechnical engineering, highway/rail//building monitoring 
  • Leadership to continually improve and develop the team and help others advance 
  • Ability to prioritise objectives and capable of completing works to deadlines 
  • Client and stakeholder management 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages 

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Accountable and responsible for the Third Party process, procedure and delivery
  • Establish the third party management regime and governance 
  • Manage third part cost programme and compliance 
  • Lead effective consultation and relationship management both internally and in commercial relationships with Third Parties 
  • Manage sub contractor design and consultancy relating to Third Party crossings ensuring delivery on time of all deliverables to correct standard including internal, client and Third Party reviews
  • Ensure design and assessment work is commissioned and delivered in time to meet the programme
  • Manage the Third Party progress meetings and interface meetings processes 
  • Implement controls to measure and monitor third-parties contractual compliance 
  • Provide progress reporting and feedback 
  • Continually evolve the Third Party management to improve efficiency 
  • Educate the project on Third Party Management processes and benefits, driving compliance with the Project Scope 
  • Responsible for third party land across request process, liaising with National Grid land agents 
  • Provide guidance and support to contribute a clear view for delivering design management and engineering on the project
  • Support with the recruitment of engineers and design coordinators to support the project requirements
  • Ensure Quality benchmarks are maintained at a high standard 
  • Promote and lead engineering innovation on the project 
  • Drive significant benefits to the cost base of the project whilst improving quality of services provided by third party suppliers 
  • Minimise disruption during construction and provide accurate and timely information
