CarmichaelUK are recruiting for an Environmental Advisor on Europe's Largest Infrastructure Project HS2 based out of Euston.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Champion continuous improvement of environmental/sustainability performance
- Participate in the development, regular review and update of OWOW (Management Systems)
- Develop, implement and monitor Contract environmental management systems and the requirements of the projects Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 14001
- Support the Environmental Manager with the project’s compliance against the HS2 Environmental Management requirements
- Support the Environmental Management with the project’s incident management reporting process
- Collect data and report against the project’s monthly environmental KPIs (including Network Rail and HS2 KPIs)
- Support with environmental performance schemes reporting (SKA Assessment and Considerate Constructor Scheme)
- Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel (both Skanska’s and suppliers) to enable them to manage their environmental and sustainable responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of suitable environmental and sustainability training for all project staff
- Support the Environmental Manager with the development of the project environmental management plans
- Develop and share best practice case studies and recognise success by supporting applications for relevant awards
- Be familiar with, understand and communicate the requirements of current environmental legislation, particularly with construction and rail sectors related environmental legislation. Experience with the HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements and Assurance & Undertakings would be an advantage
- Provide advice, guidance and assistance with obtaining environmental consents, licenses and exemptions required by legislation including experience of Section 61s and water discharge consents
- Carry out site inspections of the project and supply chain sites and ensure compliance to applicable environmental legislation is maintained
- Produce and review environmental risk assessments, method statements
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree level in appropriate Environmental discipline or
- Relevant Construction/Rail Industry experience
- Have Practitioner/Full membership of an appropriate professional body ( e.g. IEMA) or working towards
- Moderate IT skills
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Problem solving and innovative thinking
