Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Assessment:

    • Review project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to understand the scope of work.
    • Conduct site visits and collaborate with project managers to gather relevant information.
    • Identify potential risks and challenges that may affect project costs.
  2. Cost Estimation:

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
    • Utilize cost databases and industry benchmarks to ensure accuracy in estimates.
    • Analyze and adjust estimates based on market conditions and project-specific factors.
  3. Bid Preparation:

    • Collaborate with the bidding team to develop competitive and compelling proposals.
    • Ensure that all cost-related documentation is complete and submitted on time.
    • Participate in bid meetings and presentations to prospective clients.
  4. Vendor and Supplier Relations:

    • Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
    • Maintain a database of reliable suppliers and subcontractors for future projects.
    • Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
  5. Cost Tracking:

    • Track project costs throughout the construction phase and provide regular reports to project managers.
    • Identify cost variances and recommend cost-saving measures when necessary.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and construction methods to improve accuracy in estimating.
    • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance estimating skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a minimum of [X] years.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and local market conditions in Auckland, New Zealand.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
