An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a piling company in the role of Finance Assistant at their head office.

 

Reporting to the Finance Controller, the Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within the business. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for processing invoices and employee’s expenses in a timely manner to ensure payment terms are adhered to along with other accounting duties. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive and keen to lean, in return you will be provided with a supportive environment to learn and develop the skills required to become a competent Finance Assistant professional.

This is an office-based role, the location of this position is Bishops Stortford, Herts.

Role Requirements Include:

  • Follow the correct procure to pay process;
  • Ensure invoices and expenses are processed correctly and only paid on satisfactory receipt of goods or services;
  • Achieve monthly KPI processing targets;
  • Monthly analysis of company credit cards;
  • Apply Subcontract CIS taxation rules;
  • Accounting for VAT correctly;
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes;
  • Obtaining the necessary approval of invoices for services;
  • Authorising plant hire and agency worker invoices;
  • Preparation of payment runs for approval;
  • A prompt and proactive approach to query resolution, liaising with business partners to resolve issues;
  • Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements investigating any discrepancies;
  • Attend Procurement meetings to discuss procurement and any costing issues;
  • Ad-hoc duties as required to support the Finance Department
  • To work in a safe and efficient manner and to comply with all company policies and procedures

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Team player that shows sensitivity to others and works collaboratively, demonstrating an openness to others’ ideas and input;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good IT Skills (Including Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel);
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to see tasks through to completion;
  • Ability to maintain high standards while meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience with SAP is desirable 
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry is desirable
