About The Role

As Transport & Logistics Controller you will be an integral part of the Plant and Fleet Solutions Division, who support front line operations by providing compliant, innovative and fit for purpose Plant, Vehicles, Accommodation and Equipment. 

The role is for an experienced and flexible individual, who will assume day to day responsibilities of the drivers and routing for the Hire Desk.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient day to day coordination of the Drivers, ensuring all operational targets are met.
  • Processing of all hire and off hire requirements through the plant order mailbox.  Be proficient in all aspects of plant hire management and general administration.
  • Manage and plan all Plant & Tool Equipment deliveries and collections to and from our Castleford Depot
  • Run off hire not confirmed report making sure all items are collected within 72 hours
  • Check failed collections with sites and rebook or put back on hire
  • Liaise with the Compliance Service Department for availability as Plant & Equipment
  • Co-ordinating equipment exchanges. 
  • Planning the most efficient and quickest routes for our drivers using various vehicle tracking systems.
  • Ensure all drivers are fully compliant with Driving Hours and Working Time Directive’s
  • Ensuring all drivers Timesheets are handed in on time and are coded correctly for authorisation and submission
  • Ensure safety briefings and toolbox talks are carried out to all personnel as required.
  • Maintain Company FORS standards ensuring all driver training is completed and monthly toolbox talks and additional e learning training requirements are completed
  • Support the Area Plant Manager in monthly depot and driver H&S Audits including diligent defect checks and safe load checks.
  • Ensure 3rd Party Haulage are fully compliant with our Companies H & S processes 
  • Supervise driver route planning checks, ensure safe and responsible routes are taken
  • Process and close down reported defects, informing workshop and recording repairs
  • Collate driver incident/RTC statements, ensuring full compliance with Company guidelines and procedures

 

Essential Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Relevant experience within the Hire and/or Transport & Logistics industry is essential.
  • Good people leadership and development skills, able to pass knowledge onto others
  • Highly Motivated and willing to go the extra mile
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and work with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Proven IT Skills with experience of Microsoft Office and Hire Management Software
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience / Knowledge of FORS
  • Good understanding of Driver Hours and Tachograph legislation
