We have been instructed to recruit for a freelance Geotechnical Engineer for one of the biggest civils projects in the South West, the Hinckley Point C. The sections of works you will be undertaking include earthworks, civil & structural engineering works and new road construction so previous experience within these areas would be highly advantageous.
 
This is being managed by two international companies who are working in partnership so this is a prime opportunity for you to work with two established organisations who span multiple sectors including rail, power, water, building and natural resources. Not only are they working on the Hinkley Point project but also have a number of projects which will also give you scope for progression and the possibility of seeking permanent employment if you so desire.
 
As the Geotechnical Engineer your responsibilities will include;
  • Geotechnical calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and other project documentation as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice
  • Managing selected components of the soil nailing and ground anchoring and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
  • Providing technical input to projects and technical advice to project team members
  • Building relationships with clients and design teams on projects
  • Preparation of proposals, planning and implementation of geotechnical input to civil and structural engineering projects
  • Preparation of desk studies and geotechnical reports
  • On site supervision of ground investigations, including soil & rock logging, monitoring and sampling
 
To be successful in this role, it is anticipated that you will hold:
  • A Geology / Geotechnical related Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent understanding of written English and good standard of letter writing
  • Good interpersonal skills to
  • Full UK driving licence
