An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior HSE Manager with Main Tier Contractor experience to join one of Europe's busiest airports. 

You will be working on various terminal upgrade and pavement /  civils renewals packages with works expected to last 6 -12 months.
 

As Head of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) your duties will include:

  • Oversight of all HSE matters residing within their client area and from the respective Business Unit/Programme Managers.
  • Implementation of management systems to ensure compliance and continuous improvement, including ISO -14001 and OHSAS -18001.
  • Using metrics to coach managers and provide strategic, tactical and operational support as necessary to focus and energise the Business Units/Programmes to deliver positive change
  • To advise managers and supervisors on site of health and safety requirements.
  • To monitor the health and safety performance through audits and inspections
  • To support Area and Project based safety managers
  • Assist in the production of health and safety documentation eg HSE Plans, Procedures
  • Assist in incident investigation
  • Proven track record in the delivery of HSE objectives associated typically with extensive experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish a functional strategy to set and meet stretch targets
  • Developing effective site processes and procedures
  • Making regular inspections and collating, reviewing risk assessments, method statements and team briefs
  • Determining ways of reducing risks
  • Producing relevant delivery reports, schedules, plans, progress updates, goods in/ out checks, etc

 

 

Skills Required: 

  • Chartered Health & Safety professional with an accredited Institution (i.e. IOSH), with expertise in Health, Safety and Environmental compliance at a senior level.
  • IEMA Associate Certificate
  • Lead Auditor training for OHSAS 18001 or ISO 14001
  • Good Understanding of the CDM Regulations (Including all Duty Holders)
  • Previous experience working within Construction for a Main Tier Contractor or Client within an Airports Environment preferred
  • Persuasive with strong influencing skills across all levels.
  • Strong decision maker effectively driving change and continuous improvement.
  • Experience of working and managing Sub-Contractors
