We have been successful in securing a major programme of projects associated with the one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects in decades and require a ‘Head of Programme’ (HoP) to lead our client's contribution to this highly prestigious endeavour. The HoP will establish an office and operations hub in the Greater Birmingham area and build a team to resource and execute various Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) assignments under an NEC3 Contract environment alongside our strategic partners. The HoP will also support other local project opportunities in collaboration with our existing business organisation.  

Responsibilities


Programme Management

Commercial, operational and financial delivery of the major suite of contracts/projects. Principally Instrumentation and Monitoring assignments with associated Geospatial services: 

  • Operating within an NEC3 environment with commercial partners. Awareness and control within financial and contractual protocols and management of Stakeholders consisting of clients, partners, contractors, suppliers and third parties. 
  • Execution to programme: Timely, within cost and quality parameters in order to deliver project P&L expectations 
  • Management of Health and Safety 
  • Recruitment and Management of Project teams: competencies, training and performance 
  • Negotiations and management of suppliers and sub-contractors 
  • Equipment provisioning 

Regional Hub 

Establishment of a regional Office providing logistical and operational convenience to execute HS2 projects and serve as a base of operations for our emergent Birmingham/Midlands business. Commercially aware to leverage our profile and operational connections to sell our services to clients for projects in the midlands region which will be enjoying a significant Construction and Property boom from the HS2 investment. 

The position will be supported by our existing organisational structure and competencies: 

  • HR Recruitment, onboarding, training and development systems 
  • Technical expertise from Monitoring and other departmental specialists 
  • An element of talent seeding from our existing business to provide local know-how on MGS systems and standards of work
  • Use of existing sub-contract and supplier partner/contract arrangements 
  • Full Sales support to whom opportunities will be passed for full sales development, offer and operations fulfillment 

Requirements


  • Minimum 10 years Commercial or Project Management/Operations experience of which 5 at a Senior level directly managing supervisors and operatives 
  • Degree qualified in a Technically relevant discipline 
  • Expert level Project Management 
  • NEC3 Contract environment experience 
  • Technical appreciation of Geospatial methodologies including Instrumentation and Monitoring would be an advantage 
  • Good understanding of commercial and contractual risk 
  • Highly experienced in managing client and customer expectations 
  • Financially aware and able to generate and control financial budgets 
  • Appreciation of finance including P&L’s, Balance sheets and cash flow concepts 
  • Experienced in the Management of Health and Safety 
  • Hold a full valid driving license without endorsements
