Carmichael UK are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join a major Tier 1 highways scheme in Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering one of the region's most significant infrastructure projects, helping to drive a positive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager and project delivery teams, you will provide expert guidance, support operational compliance, and champion best practice across site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of company Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies and procedures across the project.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and safety reviews to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to project teams on health and safety matters.
  • Assist with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, ensuring effective close out of actions.
  • Monitor and report on project SHW performance and key safety metrics.
  • Maintain the project competency and training matrix.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety training where required.
  • Support subcontractor assessments and appointments from a safety perspective.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to injury-free environment initiatives.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, enforcement agencies and the wider project team when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' Health, Safety & Wellbeing experience.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent NVQ qualification.
  • Previous experience within construction, highways, civil engineering or another high-risk industry.
  • Grad IOSH, AIEMA or working towards professional membership.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage operational teams.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment and manage competing priorities.
