The primary objective of the Safety Advisor is to assist the Project Managers in meeting the requirements of the project Safety Management Plans. It is also to assist with the reporting requirements in relation to the company Safety System.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Weekly site-based inspections and task observations
  • Review and prepare RAMS
  • Assist project personnel in weekly site based inspections and task observations
  • Assist by providing internal auditing function and assist/participate in external/third party audits as required
  • Attend site / external meeting as required
  • Assist project personnel to ensure that plant and equipment utilised on-site has the necessary documentation
  • Ensure training and Induction records on site is up to date
  • Assist with identifying teams training needs and requirements
  • Conduct and/or assist in investigations of Incidents/accidents
  • Provide injury management/rehab (suitable duties) services
  • Workplace safety training (inductions/awareness training)
  • Mentoring and supporting – crew leaders/foremen/works manager and employees
  • Assist with safety alerts where required
  • Participate in project/safety/toolbox meetings
  • Provide site work health and safety training
  • Assist with implementing safety requirements – site-specific
  • Ensure Monthly safety statistics and reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Liaise regularly with the community in relation to project matters

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated safety and environmental experience.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safety and environmental advice within a medium to large organisation.
  • An accredited certificate in safety and environmental studies or equivalent.
  • Proven skills in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Equal Employment opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and workplace issues.
  • A formal qualification in a relevant discipline.
