An excellent long-term opportunity exists for a highly experienced Highways Engineer to produce comprehensive and accurate scheme designs, reports and documentation in accordance with the brief and in line with the time and budgetary allocations as well as to contribute to the overall delivery of the workload of the Highways team within Design Services including feasibility reports and design reviews of third-party Designers.

 

Responsibilities include –

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the programme of work by producing and developing sound and innovative design solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale, following the company processes and procedures as well as any Client specific requirements.

  • Developing and designing solutions in accordance to National design standards, procedures and requirements and any specific parameters.

  • Production of accurate and concise scheme documents and reports.

  • Contribute to compliance with the Quality Management Systems including site specific audits.

  • Production of designs that comply with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.

  • Experience of designing traffic signing, including specifying posts and foundations

  • Knowledge and experience of designing new and replacement pavements

  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.

  • Contribute to the monthly reporting of progress to clients including review of completion against planned programme

  • Assist in the development of colleagues.

 

Requirements for this post include –

  • Extensive highways design and project management experience in a similar position for Consulting Engineers

  • Above average knowledge of the CDM regulations and national design standards for highways

  • Proven project and team management experience

  • Civil Engineering tertiary qualification and preferably chartered
