My client, a well known contractor working on regeneration projects across Berkshire, is seeking a Highways Inspector to start as soon as possible. This is a freelance position starting as soon as possible. 

Responsibilities:

  • To routinely inspect the highway, car parks, street furniture, signs and trees as per the agreed inspection regimes for the roads within the borough and to inspect road openings and other work affecting the highway in accordance with HMMP
  • To liaise with residents and other contacts including parishes and members etc with regards to customer contacts; offering solution and or guidance to various enquiries received in a timely manner.
  • To generally assist in providing a safe environment for members of the public and fulfilling the Council’s obligation as a Highway Authority under the Highways and other Acts.
  • To provide engineering knowledge and assistance to other members of the Unit, the Council and members of the public
  • Problem-solving and arranging corrective action in relation to all basic safety maintenance of the highways infrastructure
  • Statutory inspections of the highway including initial reporting to and recording of defects with third party works, utility Companies and private undertakers’ activities under the New Road and Street Works Act 1991, to RBWM for enforcement. Needs clarification

Responsibilities

  • GCSE’s Maths, English, Science and Computer Skills
  • NVQ Level 3 /ONC in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: NRSWA accredited (supervisory level)
