CarmichaelUK are working with a top tier JV, on the HS2 Main Works in London, who are looking for an Instrumentation and Monitoring Project Manager to join their team on a temp to perm basis.

Role

Working with the Survey team and managing the monitoring team, providing monitoring schemes to the enabling works delivery teams. Will need to manage the commercial element, installation, commissioning, maintenance, running of and decommissioning of various monitoring schemes along the route.

Will need to manage the manual monitoring data that will feed into the subcontract reporting software in addition to automated monitoring data that is being generated. Ability to check the data manager’s calculations is essential. Management of and close collaboration with the subcontract monitoring teams is also essential. Will also be expected to have knowledge of other elements of survey related work being undertaken as the Survey and monitoring teams will be overlapping to increase the efficiency of the teams.

Review Ground Movement Assessments, Impact Assessments and Designers Monitoring Plans and implement the information to enable provision of fully operational monitoring schemes to HS2 and stakeholder standards. The applicant must be able to produce the following documentation to a high standard: I&M Statements, I&M Plans and Monitoring Action Plans, Contractors monitoring plans etc.

Commercial competence is required to enable understanding and management of the budget and working closely with the procurement and commercial teams. The I&M Project Manager will seek consents from third parties, arrange access to third party assets, input design decisions, be responsible for producing all relevant documentation and provide successful delivery to our client. As a line manager you will manage the day to day running of the I&M Team. A broad knowledge and understanding of H&S is required and you will be responsible for H&S compliance within your team. The role involves chairing and attending the CTC, MAT and SRG meetings along with regular meetings to update PM’s and others. Technical assurance shall be managed and upheld to a high level.

•             Able to analyze and check good accurate and reliable monitoring data which will need QA checks prior to uploading onto the reporting system.

•             Able to manage instrument calibrations and QA records.

•             Conversant in general land surveying techniques.

•             Aware of the latest monitoring techniques and have a good understanding of the latest equipment and innovations.

•             Oversee production of good quality QA records for all instrumentation and monitoring work.

•             Able to display good communications with other site disciplines, third parties and clients.

•             Good understanding of other site disciplines and how the team interfaces with them

•             Manage program of works to a high level of competency.

•             Able to communicate the monitoring results to other site disciplines, third parties and clients.

•             General understanding of drawings and other electronic design information.

•             Fully competent regarding monitoring equipment and its cost and able to provide best value from the team for the client

•             Have a good understanding of rail works monitoring, methods and software.

•             Required to work collaboratively with the monitoring subcontractors, third parties and the client

•             Keen to develop his/her professional status through the relevant bodies

•             Ensure documentation is managed and collated in line with the project information management systems and is also line with the works information and specifications

•             Manage budget and ensure a close working relationship with the commercial team is maintained and developed

•             Manage Subcontractors operationally and commercially

•             Ensure Technical Assurance is compliant with the specifications and the works information

•             Manage the H&S of the team and ensure all documentation appropriate and has been accepted as fit for purpose

•             Full understanding of the consents and access process. Close collaborative working with the consent’s teams and third-party stakeholders is essential.

 

Required qualifications,  skills, behaviours and attributes

•             Recognised project management qualifications

•             Minimum of HNC in construction management or equivalent

•             NEBOSH or equivalent is preferred.

•             NEC 3 commercial awareness training or equivalent

•             Has been in a project manager role for 10 years or more

•             Experience of 10 years or more in the realm of asset monitoring in the construction industry
