CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Lead Digital Engineer on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor.
Role Summary
Leads the implementation and maintenance of a divisional digital design and construction strategy. Balances an understanding of traditional design, procurement and delivery of projects within a building contracting environment together with specialist knowledge of digital design and construction techniques and workflows. Leads in the research, development and roll out of digital solutions within a division and across projects.
Tasks & Responsibilities

Assesses current BIM/digital practices within the business, leads the technology and process transformation required as an output of these findings.

Responsible for researching and standardising the divisions Digital/BIM workflows across design, planning, construction, and handover into aftercare.

Researches, develops, designs, and manages technology solutions for design, planning, construction, and handover of built environment projects.

Understands architecture, engineering and construction supporting customers, external consultants, and our internal teams with their learning and development regarding digital design and construction.

Integrates with Digital Engineering team to contribute to the maintenance of accreditations, innovation projects and implementation of best practice across the wider group.

Develops and maintains processes, documents best practices, and provides for digital design and construction knowledge sharing within the digital\BIM community within the Building division

Represent at academic, professional and industry events serving as a spokesperson in the marketplace and advocate for digital transformation.

Assists where required in the identification of appropriate resources for tenders with digital\BIM requirements within the business.

Supports regional teams in the assessment of tender stage OIRs\EIRs\AIRs, sources external fees for specific digital capabilities\capacity as and when tenders and projects require.

Collaborates with Bid Managers, Design Mangers and regional digital leads to develop high quality tender stage Pre-BEP’s and post contract BEP’s.

Assists project teams in establishing the digital design and construct process for inclusion in the Project Execution Plan and Information Management Plan.

Develops digital KPI’s, maturity assessments and ROI tools for deployment on projects and across the business to facilitate standardised adoption and validation of value added.

Attends project sites to review levels of adoption of planned digital solutions supporting teams to achieve desired outcomes where required.

Develops, maintains, and implements digital design and construction training programs for staff.

Is the business’s constant voice for change in the field of digital design and construction both internally and externally. Helps position as a thought leader in the eyes of our people and the wider marketplace.
