Our client a tier one contractor has recently been awarded in a JV to deliver tunnelling and shaft work for the second phase of its London Power Tunnels (LPT2) project.

The six-year construction programme will start in March on the latest phase of the £1bn LPT2 project which will see 32.5km of tunnel built to house electricity transmission cables 30 metres underground.

The new cables will replace three circuits that currently run under the surface of roads between Wimbledon in the southwest to Crayford in the southeast.

They require a Lead Planner to join their team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Ensuring the standards and requirements are met to provide a safe, efficient and cost effective programme meeting and the required access dates, milestones and key dates are hit within the given time frame.
* Reporting to the Project Director
* Project planning, schedule development and maintenance.
* Progress / performance evaluation and reporting.
* Turn-around planning and scheduling and implementation / monitoring.
* Project budget set-up and cost control.
* Tender preparation / adjudication
* Baseline management, resource loading and analysis, progress update and cash flow integration based on earned value methods.
* Establish and agree the level and frequency of reporting required by the project.
* Establish and communicate cost and schedule baselines and ensure control mechanisms are in place to monitor performance.
* Review overall project status with the Project Management team and recommend corrective action where necessary.
* Ensure that all cost, planning and document control reports are prepared and issued in accordance with Project Coordination Procedures.
* Liaise with all other Departments at all meetings relevant to project operations and ensure time and cost plans are updated to reflect the latest information.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

* Degree in civil engineering or an appropriate qualification
* Prior experience in planning function in civil engineering projects
* Knowledge of the development and implementation of, Planning Standards and Planning processes
* Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management
* Good communication skills
