Carmichael are recruiting for a Managing QS to join a talented Commercial team on the HS2 project. Reporting into our Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management for a section of works across the project.
The role
Contract administration
- Efficient management of all commercial functions of the packages of work you are responsible for.
- Provide commercial support to the Project Director, Commercial Director and the Commercial Team in managing the delivery of the project.
Subcontractors / Procurement
- Negotiating terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers that apportion risk to those best placed to manage that risk.
- Ensuring subcontractors and suppliers are managed, within the terms and conditions of subcontractors.
- Reviewing, approving and ensuring payment of interim and final accounts (including final account sign-off.
- Reviewing and agreeing costs to complete / forecasts.
Cost Management
- Ensuring costs/value are collected, collated and reported in accordance with requirements.
- Supporting Align’s programme of audits to verify records of Defined Cost.
- Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment and agreement of final account.
Change management
- Notification of early warnings, compensation events and submission of quotations in compliance with the conditions of contract.
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing early warnings and compensation events.
Risk / Opportunities
- Reviewing and advising on newly identified risks and opportunities for best project return.
- Identification and implementation of mitigation measures.
People management
- Effectively managing a commercial team to ensure delivery of the above items along with personal development and support or the team.
- Providing support and training for site staff on commercial issues.
About you
- Demonstable expereince as a managing QS
- Experience working within civil enigneering
- Strong stakeholder engagement
- ability to juggle multiple prioroities to meed tight deadlines
- Knowledge on NEC contracts
- Experience working with tier 1 contractors is desirable
Salary up to £75k depending on experience, and a generous benefit package on top
