M&E Manager

We are looking for an M&E Manager to join a Tier 1 Main contractor on a major project in North London. The role will initially be based at their head office during the ECI stage, before moving onto site to oversee the mobilization then delivery of the 2-year programme.

This project is the second phase of three to redevelopment the energy from waste power plant in Edmonton, North London. It comprises of the detailed design, construction and commissioning of the new waste recycling and fuel preparation facilities on the site, comprising two buildings serving a) the public, with a new recycling facility building (RCC) and a commercial recycling and fuel preparation building RFPF.

The successful candidate is expected to be able to work extremely well within a diverse team, taking overall responsibility for all management functions relating to the task. Experience of similar projects is desirable with an understanding of process plant for odour and effluent control an advantage.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Experience as a Project Manager leading a team delivering a project or managing a substantial section within a complex major project.
  • Displays enthusiasm, passion, and confidence combined with an open communication style. Is comfortable leading presentations, team briefings, chairing meetings on site.
  • Demonstrates visible, pro-active leadership style with clear commitment to safety, quality, and environmental issues
  • Understand contract mechanisms, and contemporary cost and programme data, and able to communicate the project financial and contractual position through written reports and in CVR meetings
  • Understands and is able to work with systems and processes, and puts an effective information management system in place
  • Is involved and able to guide decision making to ensure that decisions taken on the project are robust and meet project goals and objectives. Understands risks and evaluates options for mitigation and control.
  • Is able to identify where cost and value can be managed for the overall betterment of the project
  • Can build working relationships with Client, JV Partner, Supply Chain and project staff. Plans diary to make time to meet, discuss and resolve issues through regular dialogue.
  • Can organise time and prioritise actions to be visible and present where needed e.g. possession weekends/supplier events/safety breakfasts
  • Is able to build working relationships with peers and colleagues. Willing to foster knowledge sharing, learning and development, collaboration across projects and sectors
  • Understands corporate strategy and priorities, and the relationship of the project and its team to them.
  • Understand what BIM is, understand the implications and value proposition of BIM within your organization.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience of managing similar sized contracts, both in the DESIGN, DELIVERY and TESTING AND COMMISSIONING. Experience in waste/ energy projects beneficial. Must be able to demonstrate ability to manage large teams of technical people and resolve design issues quickly.
  • C&G Parts 1 and 2 electrical installation (Optional)
  • NVQ level 6 (Or Higher)
  • HND/ Degree (Preferred)
  • SMSTS
