Materials Coordinator

Carmichael UK are looking for a Materials Coordinator on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor on a Civils project.

Job Purpose:
To assist the Construction Manager in the day-to-day management of the site logistics plan and all transport, deliveries within the confines of the site. Accountable for all exported materials off site are registered and classified correctly with the correct waste classification.
Register all consignment and delivery notes.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for import, deliveries, and export of all materials on and off site are coordinated  
  • Liaise with the Depot Transport Manager daily to ensure vehicle movements and parking arrangements are agreed  
  • Ensure traffic routes, haul routes, loading locations, lift locations and parking are in accordance with agreed plans
  • Monitor and maintain segregation to working areas, ensuring works are in accordance with the agreed method statement / risk assessments
  • Daily Liaison with all stakeholders to ensure they are notified and aware of ongoing works program and phasing
  • Ensure working areas are segregated from parked vehicles, pedestrian walkways and lifting operations  
  • Liaison and programming of all Contractors as per program and regular H&S site checks / briefings
  • Compliance with SHEQ requirements and Tarmac/Kier Safe Operating Procedure’s
  • Ensure consignment notes/ waste transfer notes are completed daily and uploaded onto Smart Waste system
  • Dealing with site queries raised by Client, stakeholders, and Contractors
Typical Skills/Experience
  • Highway’s experience essential
  • Ability to multitask and manage workload
  • Good organisational/communication skills
  • A full UK drivers’ licence
  • Competent IT skills
  • A knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic management
  • CSCS card holder preferred
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of H & S practices
  • SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
  • Understanding of waste management in accordance with EA requirements
