Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering major M&E packages as part of the HS2 programme in Northamptonshire. We are seeking an experienced M&E Engineering Manager to take responsibility for the coordination, management, and delivery of mechanical and electrical works on this nationally significant infrastructure project.
The Role
As M&E Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering and delivery of complex mechanical and electrical systems, working closely with construction, design, and commercial teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the delivery of M&E works across the HS2 site

Coordinate mechanical and electrical subcontractors and suppliers

Review and manage M&E designs, technical submissions, and approvals

Ensure works comply with specifications, standards, and programme requirements

Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities

Manage interface coordination between M&E and civil works

Monitor progress, report on performance, and manage risk

Ensure full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards

Support construction management with planning and sequencing of works
About You

Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering

Proven experience as an M&E Manager / Engineering Manager on major infrastructure or complex construction projects

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within large-scale environments

Experience working within Tier 1 contractor teams (HS2 experience advantageous)

Confident managing multiple subcontractors and complex interfaces

Excellent communication and coordination skills

CSCS card (essential); SMSTS preferred
