MEP Design Manager – MEPH | Major Infrastructure Project
Location: London
Contract: Inside IR35, through to September 2027
Rate: £550–£700 per day
Project: Major UK Infrastructure Programme
Working Pattern: Hybrid, minimum 3 days office-based / 2 days WFH
We are looking for an experienced MEP Design Manager to join a major infrastructure project in North Acton, taking responsibility for the delivery of Stage 5 MEP/MEPH design across two significant project assets.
This is a hands-on design management position suited to someone who can take ownership of MEP packages, proactively resolve technical and supplier issues, and drive designs through approvals, certification and final sign-off.
The Role
Working alongside the MEP Package Manager, you will take responsibility for assigned MEP design packages.
Your focus will be on getting the MEP packages over the line, ensuring designs are technically compliant, coordinated and successfully delivered through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned Stage 5 MEP/MEPH design packages
- Coordinate closely with the MEP Package Manager and wider project team
- Manage design reviews through approval, certification and sign-off
- Take ownership of MEP design deliverables and programme requirements
- Identify and resolve technical design issues
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, designers and external suppliers
- Ensure MEP packages achieve the required levels of design compliance
- Manage MEP suppliers involved in the fit-out of the assigned assets
- Drive outstanding design actions through to resolution
- Take MEP design requirements from the current stage through to completion
What We're Looking For
This role isn't about finding the most senior or overqualified Design Manager. We are looking for someone proactive and delivery-focused who is comfortable taking ownership and driving packages through the final stages of design.
You will need:
- Strong MEP/MEPH knowledge and experience
- Previous MEP Design Management experience
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects, ideally within rail, tunnelling, stations or other complex infrastructure environments
- Experience managing multidisciplinary MEP design packages through approvals and sign-off
- Good understanding of design compliance and technical assurance
- Experience coordinating MEP suppliers and subcontractors
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- The ability to proactively resolve design and technical issues rather than simply escalate them
Interested?
If you're an MEP Design Manager with strong MEPH knowledge and experience delivering complex infrastructure design packages, we'd be keen to hear from you.
