Carmichael UK are seeking an MEP Enabling / Temporary Works Manager to join a tier 1 client on Heathrow Airport. 

The MEP Enabling / Temporary works Manager will co-ordinate and manage the phasing of the MEP enabling and Temporary works to required project programme. The role requires collaboration with the supply chain and HAL project management team.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Working with the project disciplines to work as one team with our partner ‘be collaborative’. Putting the safety and wellbeing of the team and the airport at the heart of everything you do.

  • Oversee the Temporary services installation across the T1 / T2 Baggage areas.
  • Review Tender submissions and assist the Procurement team in awarding Temporary Works contract(s) (MEP)
  • Ensure that the temporary MEP proposals are developed and aligned with other project functions and disciplines.  Ensure that the proposals are cascaded and understood by the delivery team.
  • Prepare and implement the Temporary MEP Management plan  (Mobilisation, Procurement, Installation, Test & Commission and safe removal of all services) including gaining of all governance approvals
  • Manage the MEP Temporary Works ECI subcontract through the design phase and lead contract negotiations with the subcontractor (s) for the delivery of the construction phase
  • Identify Temporary MEP delivery team resource requirements to suit the needs of the contract and work with the Project People team to recruit necessary resources
  • Input into Temporary MEP related procurement including identifying long lead time and high-risk items and products to secure the delivery in line with requirements
  • Ensure the interfaces with relevant stakeholders or identified and managed
  • Development and submission of construction phase plans for Temporary MEP Works
  • Ensure the subcontractor(s) maintains and keeps up to date records of all installation Testing and Maintenance.

Essential

  • Experience in a similar level role, responsible for the delivery of Temporary Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems including management, procurement, design, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • A professional qualification or degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering Temporary MEP works on a major rail project
  • Experience of Early Contractor Involvement models and NEC forms of contract
  • Knowledge of industry regulations for design, construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
  • Expert knowledge of products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Experience of a self-assurance contract environment
