Our client, a well known contractor in New Zealand are currently seeking a National Technical Manager to join the team and work across a number of road and land development contracts.
Job details:
New Technology Development
- Research and identify new technology that will improve the performance and competitive advantage of the company.
- Manage the successful implementation of the opportunities identified.
Technical Training and Advice
- Provide technical advice, problem solving and training for Managers and Project Managers. This will include contractual and technical issues.
- On occasions, will include organising and presenting at internal seminars and forums that encourage teamwork and the development of teamwork and individual capability.
- Work as a Team
Product Development Planning and Strategy Development
- Manage the Technical development and assist implementation of the Group’s Product Development Plan.
- Liaise closely with the company’s Testing Laboratory’s.
- Promoting Group’s Products and capability
- Develop marketing plan and prepare technical presentation material, and technical procedures that will promote the products and capability of the Company.
- Provide advice and direction on the correct design and use of materials and construction techniques.
- Represent Company at Technical Forums
- Promote the Group’s interests at technical forums as and when required
Special Projects
- Assist various branches (Managers or Project Managers) with tender proposals for major or technically challenging contracts including offshore and Design and Build projects.
- Provide review of these proposals or projects if required.
- Technical analysis of pavement failures and QA non-compliance.
- Address project quality issues and pavement performance.
- Provide analysis and review data.
- Write reports to support company position on defects
Team and Peer Support
- Technical support for the business.
- To incorporate peer support especially in managing new technology and project development.
- Motivates and encourages others to work across the group, prevents silos from appearing and contributes to developing strong team approach.
- Identifies talent and mentors and coaches individuals and teams. Can get the best performance out of their team members.
- Assists and leads in the management of suppliers in a way that works in partnership and trust so that we can both achieve our goals and profit. Holds suppliers to account where necessary.
- Maintain Health & Safety standards to the highest level
Qualifications
- Degree or HND level qualification in civil engineering or related field
- An enquiring mind and desire to understand issues
- Strong Client relationship skills
- Experience leading teams and managing in difficult circumstances
- Excellent supplier relationship skills
- Full understanding of the business and the Road Technology capabilities
