A main Joint Venture on HS2 is looking for an Occupational Health Hygienist to work out of their Birmingham head office. The contract is for at least 9 months and is to start as soon as possible.
Description of Activities to be undertaken
- Undertaking surveys and evaluating risks to health in the workplace.
- Accurately measuring and sampling levels of exposure, often through precise use of specialist equipment
- Analysing and recording facts or details of procedures in the workplace.
- Eliminating or significantly reducing risk by recommending operational changes and selecting and designing relevant facilities or equipment.
- Considering all options of control, such as ventilation, containment and personal protective equipment and finding cost-effective solutions.
- Compiling data, writing reports and presenting the findings.
- Liaising with a range of people, including employers and employees, in the process of evaluating workplaces.
- Providing advice and guidance to design teams throughout the design stage in order to eliminate or mitigate health risks.
- Providing training on health issues such as asbestos and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) awareness etc. to design teams and other Joint Venture staff.
