Carmichael are currently seeking a Piling Engineer to work on a short-term contract on a major infrastructure project in Birmingham. This role is to start asap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Piling Design & Analysis:
- Work with geotechnical engineers to assess soil conditions and determine appropriate piling solutions.
- Design various types of piling systems
- Conduct load calculations, soil testing, and pile integrity tests to ensure structural safety.
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Develop detailed piling plans, including equipment needs, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss project scope and deliverables.
- Manage permits and regulatory approvals for piling activities.
- On-site Supervision:
- Oversee the execution of piling works on-site, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot any technical or operational issues that arise during the piling process.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor pile driving, alignment, and depth control.
- Quality Control & Documentation:
- Perform quality checks on piling materials and construction practices to meet industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of pile tests, reports, and certifications.
- Ensure that all piling work adheres to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Promote a safety culture on-site by ensuring all workers are trained and aware of piling risks.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Address potential environmental impacts such as noise, vibration, and ground settlement.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
