CarmichaelUK are recruiting for an experienced First Principles Planner to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a high-profile civil engineering project.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with a strong technical understanding of construction methodologies, who can build and manage programmes from first principles, ensuring project progress, change management, and NEC reporting are delivered to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, update, and maintain detailed construction programmes from first principles.

Produce progress updates, performance forecasts, and critical path analysis.

Support NEC contract reporting, including compensation events, early warnings, and programme revisions.

Lead re-planning exercises in response to design changes, delays, or new sequencing requirements.

Coordinate with delivery teams to capture accurate site data and progress updates.

Assist project controls and commercial teams with change management and earned value analysis.

Ensure programme logic and sequencing align with project delivery strategy and site realities.
Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience as a Planner / Senior Planner on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 (or equivalent planning software).

In-depth understanding of NEC contract reporting and programme management.

Ability to plan from first principles and communicate construction methodology clearly.

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across commercial, engineering, and project management teams.
