Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager or Senior Site Agent to join a leading contractor within their Rail business unit, delivering a station improvement project in Oxfordshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a c£7.5m Network Rail project, involving station enhancements, new footbridge and lift installations, and associated civil works. Construction is due to commence in March 2026 with a programme of approximately 15 months.
The Role
As Project Manager / Senior Site Agent, you will be responsible for the safe and successful delivery of the works, ensuring programme, cost, quality, and stakeholder requirements are met.
Key responsibilities include:

Delivering the project safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards

Planning, cost control, forecasting, and financial performance management

Leading, mentoring, and developing site and project teams

Managing risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations

Maintaining strong working relationships with the client and wider stakeholders

Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:

Proven experience as a Project Manager or Site Agent, ideally within the rail environment

Strong leadership and project delivery capability

Solid construction knowledge, particularly station improvement

Demonstrable experience managing budgets, programmes, and project risks

A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
-
A strong understanding of legislative compliance, including H&S and environmental regulations
-
Commercial awareness with the ability to assess value and manage variations
