Carmichael are looking for a Project Engineer to join a specialist piling subcontractor on the HS2 line in the Ryton/Southam area. 

 

The role: 

To be responsible for ensuring that the daily tasks are completed to a high standard and ensuring detailed records are kept and issued to client in a timely manner

To assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer to plan, coordinate and manage the activities on site to ensure agreed targets and standards of safety, quality, culture and legislative adherence are achieved. Attendance at Client progress meetings as required.

Provide forecasts & sequencing of upcoming works to the client

To ensure that site perform in line with budget and to maintain a motivated, effective and safety conscious workforce.

The role is varied and will require a degree of self-motivation and good client and team liaison skills.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that site teams comply with health & safety policies and initiatives and are involved in on-going development of effective Quality, Environment, Health & Safety systems.
  • Supervise Site and Apprentice Engineers to ensure scheduling, resourcing and works package plans are completed to a high level of accuracy and in a productive and timely manner. This includes:
    • Preparation of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Task Briefings, ITPs,
    • Requesting resources and liaising with Procurement and Logistics teams;
    • Producing delivery schedules and communicating these to Client team;
    • Producing accurate site installation records; and
    • Keeping detailed site diaries.
  • Ensure works are carried out to the Project Specifications in line with the appropriate ITPs and that accurate completion records are collated and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with Supervisors to ensure full understanding of provided information.
  • Ensure handovers and briefings are executed effectively and that methodology and risks are clearly communicated to the entire site team.
  • Actively participate in Daily Briefings and Safety Visits to identify site safety and environmental hazards and implement measures to address these.
  • Liaising regularly with site management, client teams and subcontractors to track progress and identify any changes/variations.
  • Deliver frequent updates to your colleagues and line manager and seek advice as required.

  • Encourage innovation by working closely with the site team.

  • Review any potential/actual changes in scope and communicate with Commercial Team.

  • Raise NCR’s and work with the Site Engineer / Project Manager regarding investigation, closing out and improvements to prevent future re-occurrence and implementing changes to improve quality.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience within a similar position with Rotary Bored Piling experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • CSCS Card of appropriate category.
  • Full driving license.
  • A good level of numeracy, analytical by nature, and a problem solver.
  • IT literate including MS Word & Excel.

  • Fully conversant with requirements of SPERW 3rd Edition

 

Salary: Up to £40,000 + package
