Quality Engineer
Location: West London, multiple sites from West Ruislip to Old Oak Common

Rate: £400 to £500 per day PAYE Umbrella
Working Pattern: Minimum four days per week onsite
CarmichaelUK is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a major joint venture delivering tunnelling and associated civil engineering works on HS2 in West London.
The successful candidate will support the Quality Manager and provide assurance that works are being delivered in accordance with the design, Works Information and project quality requirements. The position will involve regular site inspections, formal quality surveillances, review of Inspection and Test Plan documentation and the identification and management of non-conformances.
The wider project scope includes twin-bored TBM tunnels, SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, earthworks, services diversions, bridge works and the construction of site compounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out independent site inspections and quality surveillances.
- Review Inspection and Test Plan checksheets and completed quality record packs.
- Check works during construction and upon completion to ensure compliance with the Works Information, design requirements and supporting documentation.
- Ensure inspections and tests are completed in accordance with approved ITPs and Safe Systems of Work.
- Identify, raise and communicate non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Liaise with the client, delivery teams and subcontractors regarding inspection and quality assurance matters.
- Ensure quality documentation and supporting records are produced accurately and on time.
- Promote a right-first-time approach by coaching and supporting delivery teams.
- Ensure relevant intervention points are communicated to HS2 and the project Supervisor.
- Provide support and holiday cover to the Quality Manager.
- Support compliance with project environmental, sustainability and quality management requirements.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a site-based Quality role on a major infrastructure or civil engineering project.
- Proven experience within tunneling works and/or FRC works.
- Experience carrying out inspections within a tunneling or underground construction environment.
- Strong experience reviewing ITP checksheets and completed ITP record packs.
- Experience identifying, raising and managing non-conformances.
- Understanding of formal site surveillance and quality assurance processes.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, delivery teams and subcontractors.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- CSCS White Card.
- On-site Quality training or a relevant Quality qualification would be beneficial.
- Previous experience on HS2 or a comparable major tunneling project would be highly advantageous. [Quality En...HS2 MW C01 | Word]
