Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure works on the HS2 project. We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer with utilities experience to support the delivery of works across a key section of the project in Buckinghamshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes and play a key role in ensuring utility diversion works are delivered in line with project quality standards and requirements.
The Role
As Quality Engineer, you will support the implementation and maintenance of the project Quality Management System, ensuring all utilities works are carried out in accordance with specifications, standards, and client requirements. You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and utility providers to ensure quality processes are followed and maintained throughout delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation of the Project Quality Management System (QMS)

Prepare and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for utilities works

Carry out site inspections and audits across utility diversion packages

Manage NCRs, observations, and corrective actions through to close-out

Ensure compliance with project specifications and HS2 quality standards

Work closely with construction teams, subcontractors, and statutory undertakers

Maintain accurate quality documentation and reporting
Requirements

Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction

Experience working on utilities or utility diversion projects (power, water, telecoms, gas, drainage)

Understanding of quality systems, audits, inspections, and documentation control

Previous experience on major infrastructure or rail projects is advantageous

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
