An opportunity exists for an experienced Civil Engineering Quality Engineer on highways projects in the North East. Your previous highways delivery experience which was predominantly managing the QA procedure whilst supporting the IQV Team, is sought after.
Duties will include –
- Supports the Quality Manager to promote the systems of Quality Control on the project, encouraging a positive quality culture.
- Assist at all levels in activities designed to maintain the system of Quality on the project.
- Communicate the project quality requirements, and any changes to it, to the project team.
- Assist in the preparation of a list of Management System Documentation applicable to the project and keep this up to date as the project progresses.
- Help advise on the preparation of other project documents, such as Management Plans, project procedures and forms and to ensure these documents are prepared by appropriate members of the project team for the project and reviewed and revised as necessary. Assist in developing specific project / task quality plans.
- Assist in carrying out quality audits on internal project processes, identifying issues as part of an informative report. Assist in maintaining an audit actions tracker and ensuring these are closed out in a timely manner.
- Maintain the project NCR and defects registers, ensure they are kept up to date and that NCRs / defects are submitted within the contract timescales and are closed out in a timely manner. Promote the register within the team and be the driving force to ensure actions are closed out.
- Assist in the review of sub-contractor’s quality plans.
- Review ITPs (incl. self-delivery works) as required. Maintain the ITP Schedule/Register, ensure is up to date and help ensuring ITPs are approved prior to start of works.
- Assist project teams with the Quality Readiness Review (QRR) process
- Be an active member of the quality team and to promote the correct behaviours and quality culture.
- Assist the IQVT inspector with inspections and testing as and when required.
- Assist in ensuring handover documents such as completed inspection and test plan records and as-built information are captured in a timely manner by conducting regular reviews of the quality registers.
Requirements for this post include –
- HNC/HND or degree qualification in Civil Engineering (desired but not essential)
- Knowledge and understanding of QA / QC principles and their application to a project, suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Understanding of principles of Engineering relating to the project scope of works
- Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but not essential.
- Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.
- Senior Engineers or Site Agents with Highways construction experience are encouraged to apply for this role.
