Would you like to increase your engineering skills and knowledge by working with two of the UK’s leading contractors on the first nuclear power station built in 30 years?
We have been instructed to recruit for a freelance Senior Geotechnical Engineer for one of the biggest civils projects in the South West, the Hinckley Point C. The sections of works you will be undertaking include earthworks, civil & structural engineering works and new road construction so previous experience within these areas would be highly advantageous.
This is being managed by two international companies who are working in partnership so this is a prime opportunity for you to work with two established organisations who span multiple sectors including rail, power, water, building and natural resources. Not only are they working on the Hinkley Point project but also have a number of projects which will also give you scope for progression and the possibility of seeking permanent employment if you so desire.
 
Project Quality Engineer/Inspector Role Profile
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Successful experience as a Site/Section Engineer on a variety of civil engineering projects including Quality Inspection/Surveillance
  • Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel and Word
  • Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally
  • Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the Quality Manager and Senior Quality Engineer.
  • Assist Project Staff in preparing procedures required by the project and the PMP.
  • Control the numbering and issue of quality management system documents including site procedures, method statements, checklists, registers of NCR’s, corrective and preventative actions
  • Review and evaluate inspection and test plans
  • Monitor the implementation of the quality system procedures by the site team and subcontractors.
  • Co-operate with staff and client representatives to ensure that problems of quality are solved promptly and cost effectively.
  • Surveillance of compliance with site procedures, method statements and the preparation of inspection records to ensure that staff have comprehensive and complete records of work completed.
  • Encourage feedback from all employees and subcontractors on possible areas of improvement and investigating the benefit of any employee recommendations regarding quality matters
