We are currently seeking experienced Quality Inspectors to join a significant highways infrastructure project in Manchester. Candidates must have a proven background working on major highways or civil engineering schemes and be committed to delivering work to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with delivery teams on site, you will play a key role in promoting a strong quality culture, carrying out inspections, providing guidance and coaching, and ensuring works are delivered correctly first time and in accordance with project requirements.

 

Responsibilities include -

  • Support site teams by providing guidance, coaching, and training to help prevent quality issues and ensure works are delivered to the required standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters, helping to resolve issues efficiently and reducing escalation where possible.
  • Inspect works throughout construction and at completion to confirm compliance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Work closely with delivery teams and subcontractors to ensure quality assurance processes are fully understood and consistently applied.
  • Attend and contribute to site briefings, planning sessions, and shift-start meetings, promoting quality best practice across the project.
  • Report non-conformances, defects, or quality concerns to the wider quality team and support their resolution.
  • Assist with the development and management of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring hold points and quality controls are followed correctly.
  • Support the production of handover documentation and ensure records are maintained accurately and on time.
  • Assist Quality Engineers with site surveillance activities and ongoing quality assurance monitoring.

 

Requirements for this opportunity include -

  • Previous experience working on major civil engineering or highways projects.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, particularly ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience carrying out and recording formal inspections in accordance with client specifications.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Extensive experience inspecting works against approved designs and managing NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and their quality requirements.
  • Experience in sectors such as earthworks, piling, precast concrete, surfacing, or heavy civil engineering is highly desirable.
  • Valid SMSTS qualification and relevant CSCS Card.
