About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure team working on the prestigious London Power Tunnels project. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most significant power infrastructure schemes, helping to deliver critical underground cable tunnels and associated civil engineering works that will enhance the resilience of London's electricity network.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of a section of works, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and the successful financial delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of assigned work packages.
- Prepare, submit and agree interim valuations and applications for payment.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets and cash flow.
- Administer subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account settlement.
- Prepare and manage compensation events, variations and change control processes.
- Produce monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements.
- Work closely with Operational and Project Management teams to maximise project profitability.
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Assist with financial reporting and commercial performance reviews.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities, power, rail, highways, water or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
- Experience managing subcontractor packages and cost reporting.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on tunnelling projects, shafts, underground infrastructure, utilities or major power projects.
- Exposure to National Grid, UK Power Networks or other electricity transmission projects.
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
- Knowledge of construction planning and programme management principle
