Our client a major Civil Engineering contractor requires a Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is to join the team on the Bank Station Upgrade project in London.
 
Purpose of the job:
The quantity surveyor will be responsible for the contractual management of subcontractors and sub-consultants, cost reporting and all other commercial matters associated with their section and package of works. Reporting through the commercial procedures relating to subcontractors and suppliers will be required.
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Package Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing a number of key architectural and finishes packages on the BSCU project reporting into the managing QS
Administer various subcontractor and sub-consultant contracts including NEC3 Option A / C and E contracts, ensuring compliance with the contract and Dragados management systems.
Subcontract change management including assessment of compensation events, early warnings and quotations for each subcontract.
Manage the monthly valuation and payment notice process for each package in accordance with the requirements of the subcontract
Assist with the change management process in relation to the entitlement and assessment of change under the main contract where applicable to packages being managed by the package QS
Responsible for assisting the procurement team during the procurement process of architectural and finishes packages ensuring due diligence when evaluating tender submissions and assisting preparation of subcontract documentation.
Assist in preparation of ITT’s and Commercial Tender assessments
Produce and monitor monthly cost reports for each package including presentation to the senior management team
Production of cost and value (CVR) reports each period including presentation to the senior management team
Production of cost spreads and forecast spread each period including analysis of the programme for each package
Provide the construction and design teams with commercial supports for each package
Registration, notification and evaluation of early warning procedures events.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
The role will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and to be able to report at management level.
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a construction, commercial or related discipline.
Experience of working with the NEC3 form of contracts including both Option A and C.
Experience working as a package or section quantity surveyor on a large infrastructure / station developments.
Ideally experience working with large architectural and fit-out packages
5/6 years + experience in a commercial role
Analytical mind and logical problem solving.
Able to work as part of a team.

Demonstrable commercial awareness.
Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer
Holds a CSCS Card
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerate or commercial discipline
Desirable (not essential) Member or Associate Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
