Our client has recently been awarded the utilities framework for High Speed 2.  They require a Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is for the HS2 Area South Enabling Works contract. They require the diversion of a number of existing utilities along with temporary and permanent connections.
The work will span over 4 years and will be based out of their Euston Offices
 
The Quantity Surveyor will be required to work locally reporting to a Commercial Manager as part of the Commercial Team and overseen by the Framework Manager.
They will be assisting with the control of costs, maximising value, minimising and accurately forecasting cost, whilst maintaining the required standard of quality and safety. Working within the project teams and liaising with the project managers, planners and site delivery teams. Assisting in improving cost efficiency and creating an environment of outperformance.
 
Technical Skills:
Assist in preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities.
Undertake cost analysis.
Develop Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events in accordance with the contractual Change Control Procedures.
Assist in establishing client's requirements for projects.
Perform risk, value management and cost control.
Project Estimates.
Sub-contract evaluations and assessment of applications for payment.
Assist in identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
Assist in providing advice on contractual change items.
Assist in the Final Account process.
 
Technical Support:
Provision of commercial information/advice to delivery team.
Develop lessons learned into future projects.
Support site in the evaluation of cost and values.
Value completed work and arrange payments.
Measurement and evaluation of project works completed.
Administrative Support.
Work closely with the estimating team and obtain or provide pricing information for estimating purposes.
Sub-contract performance assessment in accordance with KPI regime.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
Educated to Degree level, minimum of a 2:2 BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or equivalent degree.
Knowledge and understanding of construction techniques and standard methods of measurement i.e. NEC Forms of Contract.
Experience in Civil Engineering works would be beneficial.
You will need to be familiar, and comfortable, with standard software such as Microsoft Office suite.
Full European or UK driving license and be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.
